Preparing the Soul for Study:

Before you begin your Bible study, if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ be sure you have prepared your soul for worship in study. Name your sins privately to God the Father. You will then be in fellowship with God, filled with the Holy Spirit and ready to learn Bible Doctrine from the Word of God.

(John 4:24 NIV) "God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

(Hebrews 4:12 NIV) "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."

(2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV) "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

(2 Timothy 2:15 NIV) "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."

(1 John 1:9 NIV) "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

If you have never believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, the issue is not naming your sins. The issue is faith alone in Christ alone:
